One Earth One People
Objective
Create a multi-media design based campaign to bring attention to an area that could be changed meaningfully through the use of design. The project should include multiple components that all use design to create change. The goal of the campaign should be design activism, and to create change in something important in today’s world.
Solution
My campaign is One Earth One People, it is a campaign to bring attention to climate change, inform those who may not have a good understanding, and draw attention to those that are the true cause. I started the project by focusing on the logo, I wanted the logo to be the cornerstone of the entire campaign, something that could be viewed and create understanding almost immediately in the viewer. The use of the earth being attached to the campaign connects the idea of the campaign with the name. I next moved on to the posters as these are the most important pieces in the campaign, they would be posted around to draw people in to learn more about the subject of climate change and the ways that the average person could create reasonable change. I went with a more simplistic design with a color that would both draw in people as well as connect to the idea of climate change. I went with representative vector images that would be bold and interesting to a passerby. With those ideas in mind I created a mock up of a possible billboard that takes the ideas of the posters but simplifies them as they would only be viewed my a motorist for a few seconds at most. I took the logo and imagery and created material that would be shown and worn by those wanting to spread the message of the campaign. The table tent would be handed out to businesses that want to support the campaign, the stickers and t-shirts would be for people that want to support the campaign in the everyday world, they are meant to both be something people would wear/use and would be interesting to look out for those not familiar with it.
