Pochoir Font
Objective
Create a custom font that can be usable, can range from sans-serif to serif to expressive. Must include all letters, numbers, and required special characters.
Solution
For my font I was inspired by stencil drawings and fonts. I wanted to create something that was both expressive as a font but maintained a semblance of readability and legibility. I had never created a font up until this point so it was a long learning experience of how to create shapes in Illustrator that would easily convert into text shapes. After creating the font I both created a piece to show off the letters and numbers so they could be easily recognized for someone wanting a font like that. I then created a specimen piece that shows of the shapes of the letter forms themselves as well as an in situ piece that shows how the font might be used in design. The name Pochoir came after attempting a few different names, in french Pochoir translates to stencil.
